Bijaya K Padhi joined the AIPH team in January 2012 and has a strong interest in environmental health. He completed a master degree in Environmental Science from Visva-Bharati Central University in 2005, followed by a PhD in Environmental Health in 2009, where he focused on exposure assessment of indoor air pollutants in residential homes and its impact on respiratory health. He then moved to the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for a postdoctoral research position at School of Environmental Sciences, where he was involved in physio-chemical characterization of airborne particles, as well as monitoring and evaluation of air quality parameters for policy implications using air quality models. In 2014, he moved to United States with a research assistantship from University of Nebraska Medical Center and pursuing the Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Behaviour and Promotion. He teaches environmental health to MPH students and conducts research using mixed method approach aimed at understanding how human health, at both the individual and population level, is impacted by environmental factors and to utilize this understanding to prevent or reduce the adverse impacts of these factors on human health. Apart from his research, he serves to the Board of Studies (BoS) of the MPH and PhD programs, Member Secretary of the Ethical Review Committee (ERC) at AIPH and is the course coordinator of the MPH/PhD programmes. He has achieved several awards and fellowships during his academic career, a few of them are Fellow of International Congress on Environmental Research (FICER), Junior Scientist of the year 2009 from National Environmental Science Academy (NESA), Senior Research Fellowship from CSIR, D.S Kothari Post-doctoral Fellowship from UGC, etc. He is also associated with numerous professional bodies as life member such as ISCA, ISNA, ISEB, IAAPC, NESA, and ICER.
