Seminar on Entrepreneurship in Sustainability at AIPHMr. Federico Giovanni - a successful entrepreneur from Hong Kong addressing students of AIPH University on 18.12.2019
Mr Federico Giovanni - a successful entrepreneur from Hong Kong visited and addressed students of AIPH on his business in futuristic new sustainability-oriented ventures. Having been educated from Babson College in USA (Economics and Commerce) and City University (MBA in International Trade) in Zurich in Switzerland, Federico changed from his family business of garments to sourcing of used vegetable oils from south-east Asia and converting them to biodiesel for export to the European market. He also promotes bio-degradable cleaning products from Italy for Asian markets. Mr Giovani explained the nature of a changing business world which made him change his flourishing trading business due to 2008 economic crisis. With the whole world concerned about the future of the environment and climate change, it was imperative for entrepreneurs to re-invent themselves. The change required that he had to re-educate himself. He advised the students to keep learning so as to be able to face the rapidly changing world when they graduate and enter the workforce.
Ms Pamela Williamson, an accomplished sketch artist, illustrator, blogger and author who accompanied Mr Federico Giovanni demonstrated the value of sketching as a form of communication. Her experiences of living in Hong Kong before hand over and current stay during the pro-democracy protests was vividly shared using pencil sketches that captures the ongoing changes in this global city very effectively. The students got some hands-on lessons on the art of pencil sketching and illustration.
The program was conducted by the pro vice-chancellor of AIPH University Dr Dhanada Mishra in the presence the Vice-Chancellor Prof Jyotirmaya Mahapatra and Deans Prof Aruna Panda and Prof Niranjan Behera and other members of faculty.
