SPSS Workshop, Feb 29-Mar 1, 2020

The School of Public Health at AIPH University organized a two-day workshop on “Statistical Methods and Analysis using SPSS”. Dr. Balakrushna Padhi, PhD, Economist, Centre of Excellence in Fiscal Policy and Taxation, Xavier University, Bhubaneswar was the resource person for the workshop. The objective of the workshop was to provide hands-on training in the applications of statistical software (SPSS) in the research data processing and help understand the rationale behind the application of different statistical techniques.

Basic understanding in normal probability distributions, hypothesis testing and descriptive statistical methods (Measures of central tendency, Measures of dispersion, Correlations, and t-test) was a prerequisite to participate in the workshop. The workshop started with the review of basic statistical knowledge followed by software-enabled practical training with demonstration and hands-on exercise. The theoretical and practical sessions were alternately arranged so that the participants could understand, appreciate and were able to meaningfully interpret the results.

The workshop was very well received by all forty-four participants.
