Inauguration of MSI Unit at AIPH University

The inaugural ceremony of Microbiologists Society, India (MSI) unit at AIPH University was held on 28th September at 12:00 PM in an online mode in the august presence of Prof A. M. Deshmukh, President, MSI and the honourable vice-chancellor AIPH University, Prof. A. P. Dash. The ceremony was attended by all the faculty members and staff of AIPH University and 42 student delegates. Prof N. Behera, Dean, School of Biological Sciences welcomed the dignitaries and delegates on the occasion and briefed about the academic activities of AIPH University. The local co-ordinator of MSI, Dr. Dhiraj K. Nanda introduced the dignitaries to the delegates. Prof. N. Behera, the President, MSI Odisha chapter briefed the activities, upcoming plans and programs of MSI to the delegates. Prof. Deshmukh declared the inauguration of MSI unit at AIPH University and the inaugural plaque was unveiled on the occasion by the honourable Vice Chancellor. Besides, the AIPH University MSc students, Anil Sahoo and Pulak Pritam, working as COVID volunteers/research workers were felicitated by the Vice Chancellor. Honourable Vice- Chancellor, in his inaugural address, stressed on the importance of Microbiology as a subject in the context of on-going pandemic situation and informed about the contribution of AIPH University researchers. In addition, he informed about the existing Coronavirus research facility at AIPH University. Prof. Deshmukh lauded the efforts of AIPH University for contributing to the disciplines such as Public Health, Microbiology and Life Science teaching and research. He also made an inspirational appeal to all the student delegates to participate in different activities organized by MSI. Dr. Dhiraj K. Nanda delivered an informative talk on COVID 19 and Dr. S. K. Sahu briefed about the current status of COVID-19 vaccine. The event concluded with vote of thanks by Debasish Deb.
