National Science Day (Feb 28), 2022

The Indian physicist Sir C. V. Raman made a remarkable discovery in the field of spectroscopy which was named after him as the Raman Effect and for which he was awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. In 1986, to recognize his remarkable scientific work, on the recommendation of National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), the Indian government designated Feb 28 as the National Science Day and the first one was celebrated in 1987. The day is celebrated to commemorate his scientific contribution and to increase awareness of the importance of science. The theme for National Science Day for this year is “'Integrated Approach in Science and Technology for Sustainable Future”
