AIPH University Bhubaneswar Hosts Event To Spread Awareness On International Thalassaemia Day
Dean, School of Biological Sciences, Prof. Niranjan Behera addressed the students with an introduction of Thalassemia. He also spelt out the preventive measures while putting emphasis on this year’s theme: “Be Aware. Share. Care: Working with the global community as one to improve thalassaemia knowledge.”

Dean, School of Public Health, Prof Pradeep Panda in his speech harped on the burden as well as the impact of the disease on Public Health and prevention.
Students from Zoology, Botany and Microbiology (under the department of Biological Sciences) and Public Health department gave presentations on various topics.

The students of Zoology Department hosted a quiz on Thalassemia to spread awareness about the disease among their counterparts.
Second-year MSc (Zoology) students Ms. Gayatri Rath and Ms. Biswamaitree Pahari anchored the event.

Globally, the International Thalassaemia day is observed every year on May 8 to raise awareness about the blood disorder and dispel myths associated with it as well as assist patients in leading a normal life.
