The NEP 2020, which was recently formulated by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is based on the pillars of Access, Equity, Quality and Accountability. It envisages broad-based, multi-disciplinary, holistic Under Graduate education with flexible curricula, creative combinations of subjects, integration of vocational education and multiple entry and exit options with appropriate certification.
NEP 2020 is tipped to help Higher Education institutions of India shape future professionals and innovators with dynamic approach to education, learning and skill development.
The NEP has gone deep into reshaping and revamping various aspects of undergraduate education system in the country. It is all set to change the background of Higher Education institutions in the current academic year with focus on research and innovation.
The student-centric policy, which gives the freedom to choose subjects, can also be specific state centric, despite having been formulated for pan-Indian educational system.
Further, NEP emphasizes on skill-based vocational education and Indian traditional value education. The new policy also harps on industry orientation of students with special reference to internship, apprenticeship and industry visit, which was particularly emphasized at the workshop.
