
AIPH University, Bhubaneswar, celebrated World Intellectual Property Day on April 26, 2025, to raise awareness about intellectual property (IP) and its role in driving innovation and entrepreneurship. The University arranged an invited seminar talk by Mr. Biswajit Biswal, IP Manager, KIIT TBI-TTO. The inaugural speech was delivered by Prof. P.K Jena, Dean, school of biological sciences with the welcome address and introduction of guest. . He also spoke about the importance of IP in an academic environment and the role of universities in promoting creativity and innovation and also emphasised on the rights of the inventor and researcher for protection and globalisation of their research . Prof. P.K. Panda, Dean school of public health then shared his thoughts, focusing on the intersection of intellectual property and healthcare innovation. He encouraged students to recognize IP as a key tool for advancing research and public health solutions The highlight of the event was the keynote address by Mr. Biswajit Biswal, who spoke on “The Role of Intellectual Property in Driving Innovation and Entrepreneurship.” He discussed how patents, copyrights, trademarks, and other IP rights empower creators to protect and commercialize their innovations, urging students to view IP as a valuable asset for their future careers. In addition, the university held an essay competition on “Creativity and Innovation in Healthcare” on April 21, 2025. The competition allowed students to showcase their innovative ideas for healthcare. The prize distribution ceremony for the competition took place on April 26, with Mr. Biswal presenting the awards to the winners. The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session and reflections on how IP can transform education, research, and entrepreneurship. Following the keynote address and prize distribution, Prof. P.K. Jena and Prof. P.K. Panda felicitated Mr. Biswajit Biswal for his valuable contribution to the field of intellectual property and as a token of appreciation for his insightful talk and contribution to the event. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Soumya Ranjan Dash, Co-ordinator for World IP day.
