
AIPH University, in association with Microbiologists Society, India (MBSI), hosted the
prestigious MBSI Award Ceremony at Bhubaneswar, Odisha to honor distinguished personalities
for their contributions in the field of microbiology. The ceremony was chaired by Hon’ble Vice
Chancellor, AIPH University Dr. Usha Agrawal. The event commenced with the traditional
lighting of the lamp, followed by a cordial floral welcome to the guests. Dr. Padan K. Jena,
President, MBSI Odisha State and Dean, School of Biological Sciences, AIPH University,
extended a heartfelt welcome and introduced the distinguished guests of the day.
Dr. S. N. Panda, Director, Krishna Vikash Group, delivered a compelling virtual address,
highlighting the significance of scientific contributions in building a better future. Prof. A. M.
Deshmukh, President, MBSI, shared his insightful perspectives through a thought-provoking
message in his virtual address. Dr. Sagarika Devi, Chairman of MBSI Awards, provided an
overview of the various award categories presented by MBSI.
Prof. Hrudayanath Thatoi, Director, Centre for Industrial Biotechnology Research, Siksha ‘O’
Anusandhan (Deemed to be University) and retired professor from the Department of
Biotechnology, MSCBD University, Baripada, was conferred with the prestigious “MBSI
Lifetime Devotion Award” for the year 2024 by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of AIPH University.
Prof. Thatoi through his response speech expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
Dr. Shasank Sekhar Swain, Postdoctoral Research Associate, BRIC-Institute of Life Sciences,
Bhubaneswar was felicitated with National Level MBSI Young Scientist Award for year 2024.
Dr. Swain expressed his gratitude in a heartfelt response speech.
Through video message, Shri D. Murali Krishna, Chairman of Krishna Vikash Group, extended
his congratulations to the awardees, emphasizing that such events showcase the university's
dedication to academic excellence and the progress of microbiological research. The Chairman
of the award function, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of AIPH University, Dr. Usha Agrawal,
delivered the concluding remarks, encouraging young individuals to draw inspiration from the
awardee’s achievements and strive to make meaningful contributions towards the betterment of
society and humanity.
The Best Student nominated from different organizations of Odisha were awarded with the
MBSI Best Student Award for the session 2024 during the ceremony along with the winners of
Oratory contest and Online poster competition organized by AIPHU in association with MBSI.
On the occasion Dr. Dhiraj K. Nanda, Coordinator, MBSI & Assistant Professor, School of
Biological Sciences, AIPHU under the initiatives of Microbiologists Society, India (MBSI),
introduced health awareness campaign encouraging attendees to adopt nutritious habits through
the Drink Buttermilk & Be Healthy Campaign.
The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Pradipta Ranjan Rauta,
Assistant Professor, SBS, AIPH University.
