On the evening of June 2nd, 2025, the grandeur of Raj Bhavan, Odisha, was matched by the
spirit of unity and cultural pride as it hosted the Foundation Day celebrations of the Indian
states of Goa and Telangana. The event took place in the distinguished Abhishek Hall,
Bhubaneswar, in the esteemed presence of the First Lady of Odisha, Jayasree Kambhampati
Madam, who graced the occasion.
The program commenced at 5:00 PM, with invited guests, officials, and students assembling
in anticipation of an evening that promised celebration, remembrance, and inspiration.
Among the guests were approximately 70 students from AIPH University, Bhubaneswar,
including a gathering of students from other colleges and universities of Bhubaneswar.
Faculty members, university staff, and their family members also attended, proudly
representing the university. Their participation highlighted the commitment of educational
institutions like AIPH to fostering national integration and inter-state camaraderie,
highlighting the motto of contemporary India, “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.”
Ms. Aishwarya Samanta, PRO to the government, delivered the welcome address. Her
eloquent speech informed the gathering that the Honourable Governor of Odisha, Dr
Haribabu Kambhampati, was on an official visit to bring the Holi relic of Lord Buddha. She
underscored the cultural, historical, and developmental contributions of Goa, Telangana, and
Odisha.
The audio-visual message of the Honourable Governor of Goa, Shree P.S. Sreedharan Pillai,
highlighted Goa’s rich historical legacy, natural beauty, and cultural integration and vibrance.
He acknowledged Goa’s rapid progress in the tourism sector along with its deep-rooted
traditions since becoming India’s 29th state in 2014. His remarks encouraged the youth to
embrace cultural awareness, mutual respect, and national pride.
A vibrant celebration of culture, unity, and wellness unfolded through a series of
performances that captivated the audience. One of the standout moments of the evening was a
unique and artistic presentation by AIPH University students that seamlessly blended dance
and yoga in a patriotic tribute. Set to the stirring tunes of patriotic music, the students
performed a mesmerising routine that combined traditional dance steps with graceful yoga
asanas. From Vrksasana (tree pose) to Virabhadrasana (warrior pose), each posture conveyed
strength, balance, and inner harmony. This fusion not only showcased the students’ talent but
also highlighted India’s deep spiritual roots and the contemporary relevance of wellness and
mindfulness. It was a proud moment of grace, creativity, and resilience—a true reflection of
the values the celebration stood for.
The Honourable Governor of Telangana, Shree Jishnu Dev Varma, also addressed the
gathering with an audio-visual message. He extended warm wishes to all. He underscored the
tough spirit of the people of Telangana in making a state that is contributing to the rapid
development of the country.
Following this, the audience was treated to a rich tapestry of cultural performances. Students
and artists from Goa and Telangana performed traditional folk dances, each narrating the
unique stories of their respective regions. These were complemented by Odia student
performances that reinforced the evening’s theme of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” with
collaborative dances symbolising inter-regional friendship and cultural exchange.
The celebrations concluded with a speech by the principal secretary to the Governor of
Odisha, followed by an informal cultural exchange session, where students and guests
interacted, shared experiences, and celebrated their shared identity as citizens of a united
nation. Light refreshments were served, allowing attendees to further connect in a relaxed and
joyful setting.
The entire event was the result of thoughtful coordination between Raj Bhavan and
participating institutions. Departments of AIPH University played a key role by submitting
lists of attendees, including students, faculty, and interested family members, by the
stipulated deadline of May 27, 2025. Their collective effort ensured the event’s success and
smooth execution.
The Foundation Day celebration of Goa and Telangana at Raj Bhavan, Odisha, was not only a
tribute to the cultural richness of these states but also a powerful reminder of the values of
wellness, unity, and creative expression. It was a memorable occasion for all in attendance,
especially the youth, who carried forward the message of India’s shared heritage with pride
and enthusiasm.
