
Rich in culture and heritage, Bhubaneswar is well known as a temple city. Modern Bhubaneswar was designed and planned by German Architect Otto. H. Konigsberger in 1946 and was declared as the capital of Odisha on April 13, 1948. It has now emerged as an educational hub of India with well-planned urban development comprising of wide roads, parks and gardens. The city is home to several renowned national institutes, such as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in addition to multiple universities and academic institutions.
